What is a CS2 Case Hardened blue gem?
A blue gem is a Case Hardened whose paint seed produces an unusually large amount of blue. Case Hardened is a finish rather than a fixed image: it applies a mottled texture whose colour placement is decided entirely by the item's paint seed. Most copies come out mixed, and only a small number come out almost fully blue.
Those few are what traders call blue gems, and they sell far above an ordinary copy of the same skin at the same float value. The seed is locked in when the item is created and can never be changed, so the supply of good patterns is closed for good.

It is not simply a blue gem inverted, because the finish carries four colours rather than two. A pattern can be gold heavy while still showing purple and grey, and how it is valued depends on how cleanly the gold covers the face that counts.
Which CS2 skins have a Case Hardened finish?
The finish appears on the AK-47, the Five-SeveN, the MAC-10 and a long list of knives. The AK-47 is the most discussed of them, and one of its seeds, pattern 661, is known across the community as the Scar Pattern.
A seed that is famous on one weapon tells you nothing about another, though. The geometry of each model changes where the texture lands, so a list built for the AK-47 does not carry over to a Karambit. The only reliable way to judge a specific item is to look at that item.
