Is VSkin safe to use?
Yes. We use Steam OAuth to sign you in, we never ask for an API key, and we never request trade permissions. VSkin is a public catalog where your items and trades stay on Steam, between you and the other player.
Do I need to install the extension?
No, not if you only want to browse and search for skins or traders. You only need the extension if you want to create your own showcase and expose your full inventory (trade-locked items included).
Does the extension auto-sync my inventory?
Yes. Your inventory syncs automatically when you arrive on vskin.gg with the extension installed, and after each trade confirmation. You can also trigger a manual sync anytime from the popup. The extension never runs in the background while you browse other sites.
Can VSkin see items still in trade-lock?
Yes. The scan reads every item from your Steam inventory, including skins still trade-locked, so they appear on your showcase before they are even tradeable.
How do trades actually happen?
Directly between you and the other player, on whichever platform you both agree on. VSkin is only a catalog and a discovery tool, and we never touch your items, your wallet or your trades.
What data do you collect?
Only what your public Steam inventory exposes, such as item metadata, plus your SteamID. We never collect passwords, payment details or private messages. Our extension privacy page breaks it all down.
Is this affiliated with Valve or Steam?
No. VSkin is an independent project and uses only the public Steam endpoints.
Can I see the real 3D model of a skin on VSkin?
Yes. Weapons, knives and gloves on a showcase can be opened in an interactive 3D preview that renders right in your browser, with no game and no download needed. When a skin supports it, a rotate icon appears on the item; opening it shows the skin at its real float and paint seed, with the exact stickers and charms applied to that item, so what you see matches the real skin down to its wear and pattern.
Do I need to open CS2 to inspect a skin's float and pattern?
No. VSkin renders the skin in 3D for you, so you can study its float, paint seed, stickers and charms without launching the game. This even works for trade-locked skins you do not own: Steam normally hides them and you cannot inspect them in-game unless the item is yours, but VSkin still renders them in 3D.
